It’s Day 13 of competition at the Milan Cortina Olympics, where Canada is guaranteed a medal in the women’s hockey final, and other athletes are in action in curling and speed skating.
Here are the latest developments. All times Eastern.

5:10 p.m.
Alysa Liu of the United States has won the country’s first women’s figure skating gold medal in 24 years.
Liu had retired from the sport after the Beijing Games in 2022 only to launch a remarkable comeback, and she finished with a career-best 226.79 points, besting silver medallist Kaori Sakamoto and bronze winner Ami Nakai, both of Japan.
Sarah Hughes was the last American woman to win gold at the Olympics when she did so in Salt Lake City in 2002.
—
4:33 p.m.
The Canadian Olympic Committee says freestyle skier Cassie Sharpe is in stable condition and being evaluated by medical staff after a hard fall at women’s halfpipe qualifying.
Sharpe, 33, is from Comox, B.C., and a gold medallist from the Pyeongchang 2018 Games as well as having won a silver medal in Beijing in 2022.
She finished qualifying in third overall despite her fall on the second run in qualifying and joins two other Canadians in qualifying for the 12-person field for the finals this weekend.

4:30 p.m.
Canada’s men’s curling team will play for gold after a semifinal win over Norway.

Canada will face off against Great Britain in the finals on Saturday.
—
3:56 p.m.
Canada has fallen just short of defending its women’s hockey gold medal from Beijing 2022, falling 2-1 to the United States in overtime in the Milan Cortian gold-medal game.
Forward Megan Keller scored as she moved around a Canadian defender and had a clear shot at goaltender Ann-Renee Desbiens, and the puck trickled through Desbiens pads as she moved across the crease.
—
3:33 p.m.
Nothing has been decided in regulation in the Canada-U.S. matchup for gold at the Olympic women’s hockey tournament, with the game tied 1-1 and going to overtime.
Canada clung to the lead since early in the second on Kristin O’Neill’s shorthanded marker, but U.S. captain Hilary Knight scored on a tip shot with just over two minutes left in regulation to tie the game.
The Canadians hold a narrow 29-28 shot advantage through three periods.

The United States have tied the game 1-1 in the gold medal match against Canada in the waning moments of the third period.
