It’s Day 14 of competition at the Milan Cortina Olympics, and Canada’s men’s hockey team is vying for a spot in the gold-medal game. Elsewhere, Canadian athletes are competing in curling, skiing, speedskating and other events.

Here are the latest developments. All times Eastern.

3:55 p.m.

Canadian short track speedskaters have fallen just short of the podium in the 5,000-metre relay at the Games.

The team of William Dandjinou, Steven Dubois, Félix Roussel and Maxime Laoun finished fourth in the finals, out of medal position.

The race was won by the Netherlands, followed by South Korea for silver and the host Italians with bronze.

2:55 p.m.

Freestyle skier Brendan Mackay has won bronze in the men’s halfpipe event at the Milan Cortina Games.

Mackay, from Calgary, scored 91 points in his final run to capture third place in the competition behind American Alex Ferreira and Estonian Henry Sildaru.

Andrew Longino, also of Calgary, fell on his last run and finished 7th.

2:48 p.m.

Canadian competitors will enter tomorrow’s two-woman bobsled event’s final two runs outside of medal position.

Melissa Lotholtz and Kelsey Mitchell finished today’s first two heats in the race in seventh place, exactly one second behind the leaders from Germany.

Two other Canadian teams are sitting in 11th and 14th place at 1.19 and 1.41 seconds behind, respectively.

1:15 p.m.

Canada will play for gold in men’s hockey at the Milan Cortina Olympics following a 3-2 win over Finland in the semifinal.

Nathan MacKinnon scored the winning goal on the power play late in the third period.

Sam Reinhart and Shea Theodore had the other goals for Canada.

12:46 p.m.

Canadian defenceman Shea Theodore has scored to tie the men’s hockey semifinal against Finland at 2-2.

Theodore’s goal came after a period of sustained pressure from Canada.

The Canadians have erased a two-goal deficit with less than half a period to go in regulation.

12:03 p.m.

Connor McDavid has set a record for most points in a single Olympic tournament involving NHL players.

The acting Team Canada captain earned his 12th point with an assist on Sam Reinhart’s power-play goal in the second period of Canada’s semifinal against Finland.

Canada trails 2-1.

11:55 a.m.

Canadian speedskater Valérie Maltais has won an Olympic bronze medal in the women’s 1,500 metres.

The 35-year-old claimed her third medal of the Milan Cortina Games after a bronze in the 3,000 metres, and gold with teammates Ivanie Blondin and Isabelle Weidemann in women’s team pursuit.

Maltais laid down a time to beat of one minute 54.40 seconds before being bested by Antoinette Rijpma-de Jong of the Netherlands for gold and Norway’s Ragne Wiklund for silver.

11:13 a.m.

Finland leads Canada 1-0 after one period of their Olympic men’s hockey semifinal.

Dallas Stars forward Mikko Rantanen scored on a power play after Sam Bennett was assessed a penalty for crashing into the Finnish net.

Rantanen wired a shot off the first face-off of the power play to beat Canada goalie Jordan Binnington.

10:48 a.m.

Sweden has beaten Canada in the women’s curling semifinal to advance to the gold medal game.

Rachel Homan and her team fell to the Swedish squad by a score of 6-3.

Canada will play the United States for the bronze medal. Switzerland will play Sweden for gold.

10:42 a.m.

The puck has dropped in Canada’s men’s semifinal hockey match against Finland.

Connor McDavid is serving as team captain after Sidney Crosby was scratched from the lineup due to injury.

The winner will play in the gold medal game against either Slovakia or the United States.

9:21 a.m.

Sidney Crosby is out for Canada’s Olympic men’s hockey semifinal against Finland.

Canada’s captain was injured in his team’s 4-3 overtime win over Czechia in the quarterfinals.

Crosby led Canada to Olympic gold in 210 and 2014.

9:20 a.m.

Canada and Sweden are tied 2-2 halfway through their Olympic women’s curling semifinal.

Sweden blanked the fifth end to retain last rock advantage.

The teams traded singles through the first four ends.

8:32 a.m.

Canadians Lewis Irving and Émile Nadeau have missed qualifying for the super final of the men’s freestyle skiing aerials.

Irving scored a 111 on his second jump of the first finals round but finished seventh, just one spot outside of a qualifying spot.

Nadeau finished in ninth with a top score of 102.21.

8:05 a.m.

Canada’s Rachel Homan is taking on Sweden’s Anna Hasselborg in an Olympic women’s curling semifinal.

Homan surged into the final four with a five-game winning streak to end the preliminary round. That included an 8-6 win over Sweden.

The winner advances to Sunday’s gold-medal game, and the loser will play for bronze on Saturday.

6:50 a.m.

Canada won’t be competing for a medal in the final of the women’s ski cross. 

Marielle Thompson of Whistler, B.C., Brittany Phelan of Mont-Tremblant, Que., and Ottawa’s Hannah Schmidt have all been eliminated in the quarterfinals. 

Thompson finished fourth in her race, while Schmidt and Phelan finished third and fourth in theirs. Only the top two from each race move forward.

6:28 a.m.

Calgary’s Brendan Mackay has topped the field in the men’s freestyle ski halfpipe qualifier.

The two-time Olympian scored a 92.75 with the best round of the day so far.

Calgarians Andrew Longino and Dylan Marineau also qualified for the final in the seventh and eighth spots, respectively.

5:58 a.m.

Two Canadians are through to the final of the men’s freestyle skiing aerials event.

Quebec City’s Lewis Irving finished fourth in his first jump and advanced straight to the final. Émile Nadeau of Prévost, Que. has qualified in ninth place after the second jump. Irving is a bronze medallist from Beijing 2022 in the mixed team aerials event.

They’ll be competing later today for a chance in the super final.

4:50 a.m. 

The women’s ski cross event has begun at the Livigno Snow Park, and three Canadian freestyle skiers have raced down the course.

Marielle Thompson of Whistler, B.C., Brittany Phelan of Mont-Tremblant, Que., and Ottawa’s Hannah Schmidt are all competing in the event. 

Thompson, a four-time Olympian, was the top Canadian in seeding. She finished 2.15 seconds back of pace setter Daniela Maier of Germany, who posted a time of one minute 11.12 seconds.
