HAMILTON – Five men are facing murder and attempted murder charges in the deadly shooting of a 16-year-old boy in Hamilton one year ago.
Hamilton police say they found 16-year-old Faizaan Awan on March 6, 2025 suffering from multiple gunshot wounds in the area of Highway 8 and Fruitland Road, where two vehicles involved in a crash were also found.
Police say the teenager, who was the driver of one of the crashed cars, died from multiple gunshot wounds in the hospital.
They say two other people were in the teenager’s vehicle and investigators believe multiple vehicles had chased them for several kilometres before the shooting occurred.
Police say they executed search warrants at five addresses in Hamilton and Ottawa on Friday.
Five men, who range in age between 20 and 42, have been arrested and charged with first degree murder and attempted murder in relation to the two passengers in Awan’s vehicle.
Investigators say this was a targeted attack involving multiple firearms.
They believe more people may have been involved, and say further arrests are expected.
