MOON ALERT: After 9 a.m. today there are no restrictions to shopping or important decisions. The moon is in Capricorn.

ARIES (March 21-April 19)

You are direct, proactive and quick to act. You shouldn’t second-guess anything, especially instructions or orders from authority figures — bosses, parents, teachers, VIPs and even the police. You might misread their intentions? Postpone important decisions.

TAURUS (April 20-May 20)

Steer clear of controversial issues related to politics, religion and racial issues, because an element of confusion and misunderstanding is rampant. It’s easy to kid yourself. It’s also easy for other people to kid you! Many will misinterpret others. Stay chill.

GEMINI (May 21-June 20)

Postpone important financial decisions for another day. When it comes to anything related to shared property, banking details, inheritances, taxes and debt — your thinking is too fuzzy. You might not have the facts. Or your facts might be incorrect? Just tread water.

CANCER (June 21-July 22)

This is a tricky day to talk to partners, spouses and close friends. For starters, you might be disappointed. You might also be confused. Be aware there is an element at play that can lead to distortions of people’s views as well as subconscious feelings of distrust. (Yikes.) Do nothing.

LEO (July 23-Aug. 22)

Avoid controversial discussions about politics, religion and racial issues, especially if they’re related to your job or health. Whatever happens, know that everything is murky and misunderstandings are rife. This is a poor day to make decisions or to embark on any new course of action.

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22)

It’s easy to kid yourself or suffer from confusion related to romance. You might fall into a dreamy state of mind that focuses on hopes unsubstantiated in reality. Your views might be distorted. Don’t act on your feelings.

LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 22)

Be patient and careful when talking to parents and family members, because you might not have all the facts or you might not really appreciate what’s happening. Subconscious influences could distort your views. Or habits picked up in childhood might confuse you.

SCORPIO (Oct. 23-Nov. 21)

Bide your time and don’t jump to conclusions when talking to siblings, relatives and neighbours, because things might not be as they appear. Something going on in your daily environment might be misunderstood. Sit back and try to take things in. Be cool.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21)

Because fuzzy thinking is very easy, this is a poor day for expensive purchases or making important financial decisions. Basically, it’s easy to be out of touch with reality, or to think something is better than it is. Save your money.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19)

The moon is in your sign at odds with fuzzy Neptune, which can promote a dreamy state of mind where illusions become more important than reality. (Not good!) In particular, areas where you might feel confused could relate to close relationships or home and family. Be smart and postpone important decisions. Just ride this one out.

AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)

Be careful, because in one way this day is a bit tricky. It’s easy for subconscious influences to arise that will distort your views about something. This means you might not be able to trust your decision-making process. Tread carefully!

PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20)

You might feel disappointed by a friend or perhaps a group. The question you have to ask yourself is how realistic were your expectations? Were they pie-in-the-sky hopes you had? We are all frail mortals grappling on this “darkling plain.”

TODAY’S BIRTHDAY

Actor Jason Statham (1967) shares your birthday. You are positive, energetic and passionately committed. You work hard to achieve your goals. This is a year of teaching and learning. Take time to renew your spiritual or religious beliefs. Explore philosophies that give you better self-awareness and get you closer to the true meaning of your life.

Former teacher would suit up with Bombers in just ninth game of three-down loop career

Taylor Allen 6 minute read Yesterday at 6:02 PM CDT

In a way, Micah Vanterpool’s brief stint as a Grade 3 teacher in his hometown of Tulsa, Okla., prepared him for life in the CFL.

The third-year offensive lineman for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers only has eight career games on his resumé as he has bounced around between the practice roster, starting lineup and injury report.

But thanks to his time in the classroom, he’s developed the patience that’s required by a young American trying to make a name for oneself in the three-down loop.

Vanterpool got into teaching after failing to make the New England Patriots in 2023. He said goodbye to the education profession the following year and took his talents up north to Winnipeg.

Gaps in homecare leave Winnipeg man in perilous situation

Nicole Buffie 4 minute read 6:00 AM CDT

Tom Landy fears he won’t live long enough to receive adequate homecare.

The 49-year-old Winnipegger has spinal muscular atrophy, a degenerative disease, and requires 24-7 homecare, but gaps in his care leave him sitting in one spot for hours and lately he’s developed bed sores.

Landy was approved for around-the-clock care in June 2025, but staffing issues and an investigation into a homecare worker’s workplace injury have left him without help for periods of time throughout the day and forced his 76-year-old father to fill in.

“This is what they’re here for, to take care of me, and now it feels like I’m a burden,” he said from his home in the Maples.

Ex’s stubborn persistence no laughing matter

Maureen Scurfield 4 minute read Yesterday at 2:00 AM CDT

DEAR MISS LONELYHEARTS: When I got into a bank lineup recently, I had no idea who queued up behind me, because I was too busy checking my phone. Then I heard this guy say down my neck, “Just as beautiful as ever!”

I whirled around and saw my ex-boyfriend grinning at me. I waited for him to finish at the bank, so we could go for coffee at a breakfast place and catch up. But that was it for me — coffee and a chat! Unfortunately, he wants more of “us” and he’s been calling me every night since. The guy’s in sales now, and he’s using his new techniques, but he’s going overboard and really annoying me now!

How do you tell a past boyfriend to cease and desist? To be fair, he’s said nothing overly inappropriate, except how he’s really loving my new look and that he wants to see me again. Why isn’t he getting the hint when I refuse all his suggestions to do more together?
