HAMILTON — The Winnipeg Blue Bombers hope to make life a little more uncomfortable for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats when the two CFL clubs lock horns at Ivor Wynne Stadium tonight.

The visiting Bombers (1-1) come into the contest a game up on the home side and are looking to make it two wins over the Tabbies through the first three weeks of the season. Hamilton, off to an 0-2 stumble despite heady expectations coming into the year, is trying to avoid its first 0-3 start since the 2007 campaign.

The weather could be a factor, but only if the players aren’t crazy about the heat. Conditions at kick-off are expected to be in the steamy 30 C range and with the thick and humid air, wear and tear on the players (specifically the defences) will be just one of the storylines in this battle between East division rivals.

Winnipeg quarterback Buck Pierce, fresh off his offensive player of the week award, is as hot as the sun in Steeltown this week. Pierce went 25-of-35 for 366 yards and three touchdown passes in a 36-34 loss to Toronto last week, and has been every bit the quarterback the team expected when they signed him in the off-season.

Former Bombers pivot Kevin Glenn gets the start for the Tabbies. Hamilton is coming off a heartbreaking 23-22 decision to Calgary last Saturday.

This is the second of four games the clubs will play against each other in the first seven weeks of the schedule. The Bombers beat the Ticats 49-29 in the season opener.

Game time is 6 p.m.
