Winnipeggers will soon have a new way to show their love for the Tragically Hip and singer Gord Downie, who announced in June he has an incurable form of brain cancer.
On Aug. 20, the West End Cultural Centre is offering a free screening of the CBC’s Tragically Hip: A National Celebration, the live telecast of the group’s show from their hometown of Kingston, Ont. The concert is part of the band’s cross-country tour that coincides with the group’s new album, Man Machine Poem, which came out June 17.
Tickets for the Tragically Hip’s Aug. 5 concert at the MTS Centre sold out almost the minute they went on sale to the general public June 3.
