Timing is as crucial in the entertainment business as it is in hockey.

Faouzia, the 21-year-old pop singer and songwriter from Carman, will sing O Canada at the NHL All-Star Game at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday

The game will be shown on Sportsnet and ABC and takes place at 2 p.m.

The television appearance follows Faouzia’s Tuesday release of a music video for her latest single, Puppet.

Faouzia wears several different costumes and hairstyles in the three-minute, 12-second video, which is set in a virtual-reality universe.

“This video is so special to me because I get to tell a story that is so personal to me and do it through my favourite things: makeup, fashion, hair and layers upon layers of storytelling,” Faouzia writes in a Facebook post, introducing the video. “It’s a little weirder, darker and not as polished as what I’m used to making but I think it depicts the colourful chaos in my mind so well.”

The dance track was released on streaming services in October 2021, and since that time has chalked up almost 4.5 million views on Spotify.

Faouzia’s career momentum is also expanding beyond the music world. In the Jan. 14 edition, Vogue, the fashion magazine listed Faouzia as one of 12 “style stars set to make 2022 exciting,” and mentions her knowledge of extras that upgrade an outfit.

Faouzia was born in Casablanca, Morocco, but her family moved to Manitoba, eventually settling in Carman, when she was one year old.
