Rainbow Trout Music Festival — an annual independent event held just south of St. Malo along the Roseau River — has announced its lineup, bringing to the water an eclectic genre-spanning mix of Manitoban and Canadian artists from Aug. 16 to 18.

Weekend passes are available for $145 and day passes ($45 for Friday, $75 for Saturday, $25 for Sunday) will only be available at the gate. Admission is free for children 12 and under.

A few standouts of the nearly 30 artists performing include Windsor, Ont.-based Palestinian-Canadian experimental guitarist Bilal Nasser; bilingual eco-pop duo Beau Nectar; and Western Canadian Music Award-nominated Field Guide.

A few other local favourites include songwriter Larysa Musick, rising indie groups Sundayclub, Strawberry Punch and Leon’s Getting Larger, electronic acts Meanspath and Gora, oddball performance artist Smoky Tiger and post-rock artist Thunder McVey.

The full lineup is available at rainbowtroutmusicfestival.com.

Founded in 2008, Rainbow Trout is a not-for-profit, volunteer-run event that has grown to welcome more than 900 attendees each year to the festival grounds, a property owned and maintained by former St. Boniface residents Georges and Florence Beaudry.
