MOON ALERT: Avoid shopping and important decisions from 9:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. The moon then moves from Aries into Taurus.

ARIES (March 21-April 19)

Today is a great day for family discussions because people are agreeable and open to seeing new ways of looking at things. In fact, they will easily see the other person’s point of view. However, it’s a poor time to agree to anything important during the moon alert. (See above.)

TAURUS (April 20-May 20)

You enjoy talking to others today. You also enjoy the beauty of your daily surroundings because you’re wearing rosy glasses. You’re more inclined to see the beauty and the creation of others. However, beware the restrictions of the moon alert.

GEMINI (May 21-June 20)

Today you’re tempted to buy beautiful things, especially if at museum shops, lovely boutiques and art galleries. This is because your appreciation of beauty is heightened. Not only that, you can see ways to make money today. Nevertheless, be aware of the moon alert (see above).

CANCER (June 21-July 22)

Conversations with others are stimulating and meaningful. It’s easy to see new dynamics and connections that you might have missed before. However, due to the restrictions of the moon alert (see above), be careful of what you agree to.

LEO (July 23-Aug. 22)

It’s a lovely day. It’s the perfect day for personal introspection. (Let’s face it, you might watch daytime TV.) Essentially, you will appreciate being alive, and appreciate what you have. However, if shopping, check the moon alert (see above).

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22)

Today you will see how fond you are of a friend. When I was 16, I had 50 best friends. But my father said, “If they can carve on your tombstone that you have one good friend, you’ll be lucky.” I scoffed. But years later, I understood.

LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 22)

You might be surprised at how easy it is to talk to authority figures today. Your words are smooth as butter. They are impressed, and so are you. The only downside is that during the moon alert it’s a poor time to agree to anything important.

SCORPIO (Oct. 23-Nov. 21)

You will appreciate the beauty of other cultures and the arts and crafts of other cultures, plus any scenic landscapes you encounter today. But, if you’re thinking of buying something, do be aware of the restrictions of the moon alert (see above).

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21)

You feel generous to others today. You will welcome an opportunity to help anyone who is less fortunate than you. (Good for you. But, hey, you will get those karmic brownie points.) Nevertheless, don’t do anything important during the moon alert.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19)

Conversations with partners and close friends will flow easily today because mutual affection is strong. There will be a mutual appreciation of each other as well. (Yes, it’s a mutual appreciation society.) However, avoid important decisions during the moon alert.

AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)

It might amaze you to see new relationships and interesting connections at work today. You feel warmhearted to co-workers and appreciate what they are doing and who they are in your life. Nevertheless, be aware of the restrictions of the moon alert when it comes to important decisions.

PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20)

Your appreciation for beauty is boundless today. This is the perfect day to visit museums, art galleries or flea markets where you can see the arts and crafts of other people. You will love what you discover. However, if buying anything, check the moon alert.

TODAY’S BIRTHDAY

Singer/actor Jennifer Lopez (1969) shares your birthday today. You respect the thoughts and feelings of others. You’re social, friendly and practical. This is a year of teaching and learning. You might learn something profound that sets you in a new direction that is crucial for your success next year. Start to explore meditation, yoga or any discipline that will help you get a better understanding of who you are.

Transit safety drives first mayoral debate

Morgan Modjeski 4 minute read 2:01 AM CDT

The safety of Winnipeg Transit drivers was front and centre Monday as the first mayoral debate of the 2026 election focused on public transit.

Kevin Klein, the most experienced of the 10 candidates at the Amalgamated Transit Union 1505-hosted debate, said the time for partial safety shields has passed.

“The partial shields have failed drivers. That’s why we need change,” the former PC MLA and city councillor said, adding driver safety is not a staffing issue, but a “protection failure.”

If elected, Klein said he will bring in full-shield implementation across the city within two years and start a nine-bus pilot project immediately.

Don’t deny kids a bedtime bond with Gran

Maureen Scurfield 5 minute read Yesterday at 2:00 AM CDT

DEAR MISS LONELYHEARTS: My mother is coming to visit and our little kids want her to sleep in their bedroom, where there’s a double bed and a single. My husband thinks this idea is ridiculous and says grandma needs her sleep, but I disagree.

I remember sleeping with my grandma — who’s now with the angels — and she told us grandkids (two girls) some wonderful bedtime stories she made up herself. She even put our names into them, making us the stars of the stories.

The best part was getting into our pyjamas with our grandmother, who showed us the magic cord from the little thing that ran from her near-deaf ear down to the secret battery pocket hidden in the bra of her slip. It made her hear us better in the daytime. We thought, “Wow!”

Not surprisingly my own mother has inherited her mom’s fantastic storytelling talent and who knows what else she has to teach the kids when she’s alone with them? I want them to be close.
