MOON ALERT: There are no restrictions to shopping or decisions today. The moon is in Scorpio.

ARIES (March 21-April 19)

Even though you feel basically happy and optimistic today, you might find yourself at odds with someone about bills, shared property, taxes, debt or disputes about who owns what. A friend or a member of a group might challenge you. Don’t take the bait. Stay calm.

TAURUS (April 20-May 20)

Be patient with those who are closest to you today because something unexpected might throw you a curveball. A friend or partner might make an unusual demand or surprise you in some way. (Whaaat?) You might also have a testy exchange with a boss or parent. Stay chill.

GEMINI (May 21-June 20)

Something might interrupt your work routine today. It could relate to a dispute about philosophy or your beliefs about something. Be careful because unexpected health concerns might also arise. Meanwhile, pet owners should keep their eye on their pets today.

CANCER (June 21-July 22)

If you are a parent, this is an accident-prone day for your kids. (Regardless of their age.) Do be aware of this. Sports accidents might also occur along with a sudden change of social plans. Avoid disputes about shared responsibilities or property because people are argumentative today. Make nice with everyone.

LEO (July 23-Aug. 22)

Do what you can to maintain your own peace of mind today because that will help you to be patient with parents, bosses, partners and close friends. You will need to stay calm to avoid an argument with someone. Small appliances or minor breakages at home might also occur.

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22)

Go slowly and carefully today because this is a mildly accident-prone day for you. Very likely, your daily routine will change. You might find yourself at odds with someone, especially at work, or in dealing with health issues or something related to a pet. Stay calm and keep your eyes open.

LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 22)

Keep an eye on your money today because you might find money or you might lose money. Likewise, you might have to protect what you own against loss, theft or damage. A social outing might cost more than you anticipated. Meanwhile, keep an eye on your kids today.

SCORPIO (Oct. 23-Nov. 21)

Today the moon is in your sign; however, it is at odds with unpredictable Uranus and fiery Mars. This can trigger domestic arguments with partners, close friends or people at home. Since anger only makes everyone miserable, be patient.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21)

Steer clear of arguments with others, especially daily contacts, because this will not further your cause. You might be passionate about your beliefs and want to persuade others to agree with you. This is understandable. But do not coerce people. Your excitement about your ideas might make you accident prone.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19)

Social plans might change today; ditto for sports events and playful times with kids. Keep an eye on your money and your possessions because something could impact them. Think before you act, if you’re making financial decisions or purchases. Guard against impulse purchases. (Keep your receipts.)

AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)

This is the classic day for an argument with a boss, a parent or someone in authority (especially a female). You are quite driven now with Mars in your sign; fortunately, fair Venus is also in your sign, which will ameliorate your aggressive energy.

PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20)

With Mercury in your sign now, you can talk yourself out of any difficulties that might arise today dealing with others regarding travel changes, philosophical or religious beliefs, or something nasty going on behind the scenes. Keep your wits about you and you’ll do fine.

TODAY’S BIRTHDAY

Actor Gary Oldman (1958) shares your birthday. You are pleasing, charming and talented. You are a passionate person but you are also contemplative. Although you appeared lighthearted, you don’t take things lightly. This is a wonderful year to enjoy yourself and your relations with others because you have a great zest for life! Let your hair down! Enjoy!

Spike in safety concerns doesn’t feel like harm reduction

Rebecca Chambers 4 minute read Yesterday at 5:39 PM CDT

It’s after dinner when a couple of young boys appear on my porch. I recognize them from the neighbourhood, but they’re not here to ask my kids to come out for a game of basketball. Instead, one asks, “Is it OK to come in for a little bit. There’s a guy out there and he’s scaring us.”

Wallowing in jealousy will get you nowhere

Maureen Scurfield 5 minute read 2:00 AM CDT

DEAR MISS LONELYHEARTS: My girlfriend is beautiful and has a top-heavy body that just won’t quit — and she knows it.

When we went to the beach last weekend, people stood staring at her as she came out of the water in her striped bikini. I really don’t know how to react when this happens. I feel like running up and covering her assets with a towel.

I just want to grab her and say, “She’s mine,” even though I know she’s loyal to me and it would only get me in trouble with her. How can I cope better with this?

It’s about more than tractors at threshermen’s reunion

Matt Goerzen 4 minute read 2:00 AM CDT

BRANDON — The Manitoba Threshermen’s Reunion and Stampede will sport a carnival-style midway for the first time in decades when it opens this weekend.

The Manitoba Agricultural Museum in Austin offered to be a stand-in host for a Select Shows gig that was flooded out in Swan River.

Earlier this month, the Swan River Valley Agricultural Society was forced to cancel the 2026 North West Agricultural Society Exhibition and Stampede after flooding forced evacuations and caused extensive damage.

The Swan River event was supposed to take place from July 23-26 — the same dates as the threshermen’s reunion.

Best to steer clear if ex is still life of the party

Maureen Scurfield 4 minute read Yesterday at 2:01 AM CDT

DEAR MISS LONELYHEARTS: I spotted an old girlfriend at the beach recently, and what a jolt. She was tanned and gorgeous. She had a pink towel wrapped around her lower half and it reminded me of when she would walk towards me with a sexy look on her face after a shower. She always knew what she was doing and how it affected me.

We didn’t end up chatting at the beach, but to my surprise she called me later that day, asking to take me out to dinner. What should I do? We were a great pair, except for her excessive partying and drinking. I didn’t ask her if she’s being a good girl now. Please advise.

— Curiosity Aroused, West Kildonan

Dear Curious: The more mature version of this ex might be interesting for you — if she has actually graduated from her bad old days of partying. You’ll probably know after a dinner out with her, especially if you have a couple of cocktails.
