Hey there, time traveller!

Dear Miss Lonelyhearts: At 17, I have a big decision to make. My girlfriend wants to make love with me and I’m dying to have sex with her. The trouble is she says she’s in love with me, and if she ever got pregnant, she could live with that. I love her, but I don’t want her to be my last love, and I wouldn’t want to marry her if she got pregnant. If I said that, it would crush her so badly. Right, now we lie in bed naked and do everything but have intercourse. It’s becoming more and more difficult not to do it, and to hell with the consequences!
She doesn’t want to go on the pill because of possible side effects. She just wants to use condoms. My mom once told me condoms can slip off or break and then you have no protection. What should we do? I know it’s going to happen soon. Help!
— On the Brink, Winnipeg
Dear On the Brink: Your girlfriend should visit the Women’s Health Clinic at 419 Graham Ave. on Thursday’s teen drop-in night and find out what would be the best forms of protection to use. She can air her worries about the pill and everything else. A combo of two methods might work, and she could ask about percentages of failure, and how to be absolutely safe. Unfortunately, all methods run a certain risk of error.
