Picasso and his fellow masters are packing them in at the Winnipeg Art Gallery.

The WAG’s 100 Masters: Only in Canada exhibition has smashed all previous attendance records, attracting more than 17,000 visitors since the masterworks show opened on May 11, according to a release.

Covering more than 15,000 square feet and spanning six centuries, the exhibition is also the WAG’s largest and most ambitious to date. It brings together under one roof 100 masterpieces by some of the world’s greatest artists — one for each year of the gallery’s existence.

“This exhibition was a tremendously ambitious project for the WAG to undertake and we couldn’t be happier with with the response from the community,” WAG director and CEO Stephen Borys said in a release. “Visitors are just amazed at seeing so many great artists — Rembrandt, Renoir, van Gogh, Monet, Matisse, Rodin, Picasso and others — all in one space.

The exhibition runs to Aug. 18.

Every Tuesday and Thursday the WAG presents One Master at a Time, where curators present 15-minute insights into individual works of art in the exhibition. Exhibition tours are held at 2 p.m. on selected Saturdays and Sundays.
