BLUES brothers (and sisters), rejoice — the Steve Miller Band is coming to town.

The veteran American band stops by the MTS Centre on April 4 as part of a 2014 world tour. Tickets go on sale Friday, Nov. 29, at 10 a.m. and are $39.50-$79.50 through Ticketmaster.

With more than 30 million records sold in a career spanning more than four decades, the Steve Miller Band is one of America’s pre-eminent rock ‘n’ roll acts.

On Saturday afternoon, all four players exposed to waivers — defenceman Isaak Phillips and forwards Nikita Chibrikov, Noah Gregor and Parker Ford — cleared, which means they can be assigned to the Manitoba Moose of the American Hockey League.

Owing to injuries to captain Adam Lowry and winger Cole Perfetti, both Chibrikov and Ford started last season on the NHL roster but spent the bulk of last season with the Moose.

Chibrikov, chosen in the second round of the 2021 NHL Draft, has dealt with multiple lower-body injuries during the prior two seasons and is still working his way back to peak form.

That decision would suggest  defenceman Tyrel Bauer is in line to break camp with the NHL club for the first time in his career.

Charges laid after St. Boniface hospital assault

A man has been charged after a serious assault at St. Boniface Hospital on Saturday.

Just after 1 a.m. Sept. 26, two men were having an argument that escalated to a physical fight in which the victim sustained serious upper-body injuries, the Winnipeg Police Service stated in a news release Sunday.

When police arrived, a 36-year-old man was being detained by security personnel. The incident didn't involve hospital staff and no one else was hurt, the release stated.

James Anthony Junior Clark, 36, was arrested and charged with assault causing bodily harm and two counts of violating a probation order.
