Ramen Takeuma launches new pop-up series Winnipeg’s roving ramen restaurant is popping up at a new location. Ramen Takeuma, founded by Japanese chef Atsushi Kawazu, is hosting a series of dining events this month and next at Honu Poke, a Hawaiian inspired restaurant at 190 Smith St. Last winter, the Kyoto-born chef doled out bowls of broth and noodles at the Elmwood Curling Club. The current pop-ups are running Wednesdays through Saturdays until Nov. 10, with 12 seatings per night. The menu includes ramen and fried chicken. Reservations are required and can be made by sending a message to Ramen Takeuma on Facebook and Instagram.

Brunch at Drag-ula’s Den

The Canadian Museum for Human Rights is hosting a Halloween-themed drag brunch Sunday at Drag-ula’s Den, er, Boreal Bistro. Tickets are $36 per person at humanrights.ca with two seatings available at 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. The à la carte menu includes a non-alcoholic beverage and a choice of a breakfast bowl, French toast, pancakes, eggs benedict or omelette. Diners will enjoy spooky performances by local drag queens Bambi Rey, Esla Marquesa, Kymera, Lady Muse and Special K. Tipping and costumes are recommended.

Beer and high tea at the Norwood Hotel

Stop by the Wood Tavern (112 Marion St. inside the Norwood Hotel) Sunday for a mini Beer Festival with samples from 10 local breweries, including Torque, Little Brown Jug, Nonsuch, One Great City and others. Tickets are $55 plus fees at Eventbrite and include a selection of sliders and fries. Live entertainment will be provided by musicians Kasey Kurtz and Lindsay Donnick.

The Wood Tavern is hosting a beer festival Sunday.

Pauline Bistro — the hotel’s in-house brunch spot — has also launched a new ongoing dining event. Le Goûter: A Traditional French High Tea takes place from 3 to 5 p.m. on Wednesdays and Sundays and features a sweet and savoury menu of scones, finger sandwiches, cakes and pastries. Tickets are $55 at paulinebistro.ca. Reservations are recommended.

Dinner and chamber music

The Manitoba Chamber Orchestra is hosting a soirée fundraiser next month featuring food from celebrated Winnipeg chef Renée Girard, formerly of Harth Mozza & Wine Bar. The meal will be accompanied by entertainment from orchestra musicians and a talk by composer Glenn Buhr. The event takes place on Tuesday, Nov. 7 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the historic Moss House at 218 Roslyn Rd. Tickets are $120 per person at themco.ca with a $75 tax receipt.
