Mateo came into the care of Manitoba Great Pyrenees Rescue with his canine brother Harley (who has since been adopted) from a community in Saskatchewan.
They were thin and unaltered when they first arrived. Mateo was a very shy boy and would avoid people, always having Harley do the greetings. It took months for him to feel comfortable and trust people.
He stayed with Sonia, the rescue’s founder and director, for many months and now has transitioned into a foster home. He’s doing amazingly well.
Mateo enjoys companionship with other dogs, is good with cats and is thoroughly enjoying car rides now.
He’s very active and enjoys a great walk, running and has even done some bike-joring. He loves getting his belly scratched and enjoys his treats. He has also been great at the groomers.
Mateo would make a great companion and requires a secure, fenced-in yard.

All the dogs (and cats) in the care of Manitoba Great Pyrenees Rescue are homed in private residences until they find their forever homes. A home visit with a rescue volunteer is one of the final steps of the application process.
