WINNIPEG — Attorney General Dave Chomiak today killed any hope thousands of drivers will get a refund on their construction zone speeding tickets.

Chomiak said the province and city are not legally obligated to pay back fines of drivers caught speeding in reduced speed zone road construction areas even though the construction zones were not properly marked.

He also said to even begin to examine a possible refund would be an administrative nightmare.
He also said the city was not happy about the possibility of refund when it was based on a legal technicality regarding signage at the end of a construction zone.
