WINNIPEG — NDP leadership candidate Greg Selinger said today if elected premier he’ll create a new fund to help more small businesses get established in Manitoba.
He made his announcement outside Pollock Harware Co-op on Main Street.
Selinger said he wants to build on the current Community Enterprise Development Tax Credit to raise more funds.
The tax credit allowed North End residents to raise $55,000 and bring in 125 residents to keep Pollock’s doors open when the former owners wanted to retire.
Selinger said a new tax credit will help established co-ops invest in new co-ops.
Leadership candidate Andrew Swan will also hold a media event today. He is to announce an anti-crime plan with Winnipeg Police Association president Mike Sutherland.
