The Winnipeg Goldeyes baseball club announced on Tuesday that the it ranked 26th in fan attendance among 267 baseball teams, outside of Major League Baseball.

The Goldeyes saw an average crowd of 6,180 during the 2009 Northern League season. The Winnipeg team’s average attendance placed it first in the league and in independent baseball for the 10th straight year — and saw the Goldeyes ranked in front of 12 triple A, 27 double A and all 30 single A-advanced teams.

In 2009, the Goldeyes saw a total of 278,099 fans attend 45 regular-season games at Canwest Park.

More than 300,000 fans watched Goldeyes action when attendance at two pre-season and three post-season games are included.

In 11 years at Canwest Park, the Goldeyes announced they have welcomed almost 3.24 million fans during the regular season, an average of 6,542 per game.
