WINNIPEG – Call them The Maginificent Six.
The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have placed six players in the East Division All-Star team, unveiled Wednesday morning by the Canadian Football League after voting was conducted by The Football Reporters of Canada, the eight head coaches and fans.
Named to the all-star team were: running back Fred Reid, offensive guard Brendan LaBatte and four members of the defence: tackle Doug Brown and defensive backs Jovon Johnson, Jonathan Hefney and Lenny Walls.
Brown was named a divisional all-star for the sixth time and fourth consecutive season while Reid, who finished second in rushing to Calgary’s Joffrey Reynolds, was named to the East squad for the second straight year. Johnson, Hefney and Walls were all named all stars for the first time.
The CFL all-star team will be announced next week after another round of voting.
