The Manitoba Speed Skating Association would like as many people as possible to come out and celebrate the Olympics at the Susan Auch Speed Skating Oval, located at the Cindy Klassen Recreation Complex.
The public is invited to don a pair of skates, whether they be long blades, hockey or figure, and enjoy a family skate Sunday from 4-7 p.m. on the track that has produced so many Canadian Olympic and world champions. If you don’t have any skates, speed skates will be available for use (with a deposit).
Skaters will also be able to cheer on Winnipeg’s own Cindy Klassen, over large-screen televisions set up outside, as she defends her 1,500-metre Olympic gold medal in Vancouver.
The event, which is free and is open to all ages, will also feature speed skating demos, juice and cookies for everyone.
