WINNIPEG — The Winnipeg Blue Bombers are in discussions with Canadian running back Jesse Lumsden, team officials revealed prior to the Labour Day Classic this afternoon.
Speaking on the CJOB pre-game show, Bombers assistant GM Ross Hodgkinson said the club has explored the possibility of adding the talented non-import tailback to the Bombers practice roster.
Hodgkinson wouldn’t say how close the two sides are in negotiations, or whether the talks are moving in a positive direction, but did say the club has reached out to Lumsden’s representatives.
The 28-year-old Lumsden, who hasn’t been able to stay on the field due to various injuries throughout his pro career, has yet to see any action in the 2010 season, as clubs have been reluctant to take a chance on the former Edmonton and Hamilton player.
