WINNIPEG — Saturday morning at about 12:30 a.m. a 34-year-old woman was walking through a park in the area of the Notre Dame Avenue and Sherbrook Street when she was approached by a number of individuals.

Further investigation by members of the Sex Crimes and Identification Unit has revealed that one of the suspects stole the victim’s purse and a case of beer. When the victim attempted to retrieve her property, this group of male and female suspects set upon beating her. The victim was knocked to the ground and physically assaulted. The suspects kicked and punched the female victim numerous times about the head and body causing significant injuries.

At the conclusion of the assault, the suspects then took part in pillaging the victim’s purse as well as drinking the beer. The rest of the suspects began walking away from the victim, however, a male suspect stayed behind and proceeded to undress the unconscious victim. A serious sexual assault occurred.

Witnesses observed this action and notified police who responded immediately, interrupting the incident and subsequently locating the suspects.

The victim had been transported to the hospital in unstable condition suffering from numerous injuries to her upper body.

Gilbert Johnny Moise, 18 years of Winnipeg, has been charged with the following offences:
– Sexual assault
– Robbery with violence
– Fail to comply with conditions recognizance X 4

Matthew Allen Sutherland, 18 years of Winnipeg, has been charged with the following:
– Robbery with violence

A 16-year-old male, of Winnipeg has been charged with the following offences:
– Robbery with violence
– Fail to comply condition undertaking
– Fail to comply with sentence

A 17-year-old female and an 18-year-old female are facing the charge of robbery. Both have been released on a promise to appear.
