The first onslaught of winter weather has caused the closure of some highways and the delay of some flights.

-A highway closure in Saskatchewan has led to the shutdown of a section of the Trans Canada Highway in Manitoba. Highway 1 westbound from Virden to Sintaluta, Sask, about 150 kilometres west of the Manitoba border, is closed due to snow and blowing snow, while travel further west on the highway is not recommended.

 – Highway 10 through Riding Mountain National Park is closed due to snow.

– Highway 319, six kilometres west of Highway 59, is closed due to water over the road.

– Highway 269, 10 kilometres east of Highway 364 near Volga, is closed due to water over the road.

According to Manitoba’s Highway Information Services, areas in and around Winnipeg are wet, but roads in the Brandon area and parts of Western Manitoba are wet and slushy and drivers are urged to take care and adjust their driving to the conditions.
