Liberal leader Michael Ignatieff has unveiled a $1 billion-a-year promise to create early childhood learning and child-care spaces.
Ignatieff unveiled the Liberal policy this morning at the Lord Roberts Preschool in Winnipeg.
The Early Childhood Learning and Care Fund will start with a $500-million investment in the first year, rising to $1 billion annually by the fourth year, Ignatieff said.
The Liberal leader said that provinces and territories will be able to apply to this new social infrastructure fund for cost-sharing of early childhood learning and care plans that create and operate new, affordable, high-quality early childhood learning and care spaces across Canada with qualified professional staff.
The Winnipeg Free Press is there, and will provide further details as they become available.
