More than 150 residents of Peguis First Nation are being forced from their homes due to flood waters.
Today’s evacuation impacts 157 people. Some are being sent to Winnipeg and others will go to various locations in southern Manitoba, an emergency services worker at Peguis said.
The community declared a state of emergency Tuesday and drew up a list of 500 people who live in low-lying areas who need to leave their homes, by the end of today.
Peguis chief and council have established an emergency services organization, including a flood co-ordinator to organize the evacuations.
