PORTAGE LA PRAIRIE — The Portage Terriers won the ANAVET Cup interprovincial junior hockey championship Sunday night at Portage’s PCU Arena with a 4-0 victory in the seventh and deciding game of the series over the La Ronge Ice Wolves.
The Terriers, the Manitoba Junior Hockey League champions, won the series 4-3 over the Saskatchewan team. The Terriers will leave Friday for the RBC Cup national junior hockey championship in Camrose, Alta., April 30-May 8.
Goaltender Jason Kasdorf of Winnipeg earned the shutout for the Terriers, who outshot the Ice Wolves 36-19. Scoring for the Terriers were Shaq Merasty, Tanner Harms, Brendan Harms and Kyle Turgeon.
