It’s not a blockbuster by any means, but the Winnipeg Blue Bombers have made a trade to land another draft pick.

The Bombers have shipped veteran cornerback LaVar Glover to the Edmonton Eskimos for a conditional sixth-round pick in next year’s 2012 draft.

Winnipeg has six picks in this Sunday’s draft: first and fourth overall in addition to the 17th, 24th, 32nd and 41st selections.

The Bombers began the offseason with just three selections in the draft, but shipped long-snapper Taylor Inglis to the Esks for fifth and sixth-round picks (32nd and 41st) and quarterback Steven Jyles to the Toronto Argonauts for the fourth overall choice and a conditional pick in 2012.

Signed as a free agent last March, the 32-year-old Glover appeared in 12 games for the Bombers last year and finished with 34 tackles and two interceptions. He was placed on the nine-game injured list last fall with a groin pull and effectively replaced by Deon Beasley. The Bombers are also high on cornerback Johnny Sears, who joined the team late last year.

The pick is conditional on Glover, who worked with new Esks head coach Kavis Reed here last year, making the Eskimo lineup.
