WINNIPEG — The roster trimming for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers is now complete.
The team got down to its 46-man active roster this afternoon, releasing eight players. Among the notables given their pink slips include running backs Chris Garrett and Alex Henderson, and defensive lineman Moton Hopkins. On Friday, the club announced the release of 12 players.
Winnipeg also announced that defensive back Johnny Sears and offensive lineman Paul Swiston have been put on the nine-game injured list.

Sears has a high-ankle sprain, suffered in Thursday’s 30-23 loss to the Toronto Argonauts.
Swiston’s injury is unknown, suggesting the Bombers may just be hiding him on the nine-game list to avoid losing him to another club.
Head coach Paul LaPolice also said veteran Glenn January has won the battle for the right tackle position, beating out Kelly Butler for the spot on the offensive line. Butler started on the Bombers’ line in 2010, when January missed the entire season with a torn pectoral muscle.
Other Winnipeg roster moves include DB Clint Kent (ankle), DL Deji Oduwole (ankle), and LB Henoc Muamba (knee) starting the season on the one-game injured list.
LaPolice did not announce his seven-player practice roster. He said negotiations with some players for a PR spot are still on going.
