With the rash of injuries in the receiving department, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers are bringing back an old face.

Import Alex Watson, who was released by the club after training camp, will officially join the Blue and Gold later today, head coach Paul LaPolice announced after practice at Canad Inns Stadium this afternoon.

Watson, a 5-foot-9, 185-pound wideout out of Northern Arizona, will start on the practice roster and could be promoted to active duty before Friday, depending on the injury status of Greg Carr (hamstring) and Terrence Edwards (arm).

Watson will be joined on the P.R. by import running back Mike McLendon, who was brought in by the club over the weekend. McLendon, a 5-foot-9, 196-pound speedster from North Alabama, saw limited work in today’s workout.

He replaces Alex Henderson on the practice roster. Henderson was released by the club.

The 26-year-old McLendon spent a short time in the Jacksonville Jaguars system in 2009.

Winnipeg (1-0) hosts the Toronto Argonauts (1-0) at Canad Inns Stadium Friday (6:30 p.m.).
