The Winnipeg Jets have added some depth to the one spot on the roster still in need of some punch – the centre ice position.
The Jets announced Tuesday they have signed Russian centre Ivan Telegin, who spent the last two years with the Saginaw Spirit of the Ontario Hockey League.
The 19-year-old native of Novokuznetsk, Russia was drafted in the fourth round (101st) overall by the Atlanta Thrashers last season and is coming off a season in which he scored 20 goals and added 41 assists in 59 games. Telegin also scored twice and added eight assists in 12 playoff games.
The 6-3, 185-pounder suited up for Russia at the 2010 World Junior Hockey Championships in Saskatchewan.
