In a brief stop at Winnipeg’s 17 Wing today Defence Minister Peter MacKay announced $3.9 million for upgrades to base health services.
Renovations to the base’s health services centre are expected to begin this fall.
Nearly 4,000 service men and women rely on 17 Wing’s health services centre — including 60 American servicemen and their families also based at the Wing.
The renovation is expected to create more spaces in the primary care unit and mental health services.
“The improvements to the clinic at 17 Wing will ensure that Canadian Forces personnel in Winnipeg will continue to receive the full spectrum of first-class health care that they so rightly deserve,” said MacKay.
