The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have added a new defensive lineman to their practice roster in the lead-up to Saturday’s game in Vancouver against the BC Lions.

With starting defensive tackles Doug Brown (foot) and Dorian Smith (ankle) ailing, the Bombers announced this morning that they have signed import defensive lineman Rodney Fritz to their practice roster.

Fritz, 24, played last winter with the Huntington Hammer of the Ultimate Indoor Football League. He led the Hammer in tackles and later became the first player ever to make the jump from that fledgling league to the Arena Football League, where he signed with the Tulsa Talons.

Fritz — 6-1, 260 lbs. — played his senior year of college at Tennessee State, where he recorded 10 tackles and three sacks in eight games.
