The MTS Centre is flooded and Derek King couldn’t be more thrilled.
True North’s manager of ice operations says his team is right on schedule as they prepare the playing surface for the 2011/12 Jets season.
“There’s been a lot of anticipation to this day and so far things are going pretty good,” said King.
The most anticipated part of the process for many fans happened this morning, as crews carefully installed the new Jets logo at centre ice.
By placing a textile fabric logo instead of the traditional painting method, King’s crew has cut installation time from as long as eight hours to about 15 minutes.
“We’ll just do a fine mist of water just to seal it and we’ll keep doing that and once it’s frozen in, we’re pretty much good to go,” King says.
