WINNIPEG – These days just about anything emblazoned with a Winnipeg Jets logo turns to sold. While they’re not in the stores just yet, Winnipeg Jets jerseys have already been hot sellers.
Unveiled on Tuesday morning at Royal Canadian Air Force base 17 Wing in Winnipeg, the jerseys have been much anticipated since the announcement of the NHL’s return on May 31 and logo release on July 22. While you can’t yet get your hands on them, pre-order sales of Winnipeg Jets jerseys have been burning up the phone lines and keeping the cash registers going at the Jets Gear store and River City Sports.
The Winnipeg Jets Hockey Club told the Free Press Wednesday they had received more than 1,300 orders in less than 24 hours following the reveal of the jerseys Tuesday. River City Sports has handed over nearly a thousand pre-paid vouchers over the last month- many of those before customers even had a chance to see the jerseys’ final design.
The first batch of authentic jerseys, with a price tag of $299, is expected to arrive early October. The replica jerseys, at $129 dollars, are expected in-store a few weeks later.
