Canadian Blood Services is holding a special blood donor clinic to honour the Canadian Forces.

The mobile clinic will take place after the Remembrance Day service at the Winnipeg Convention Centre (375 York Ave.), and run 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

CBS expects to collect approximately 145 blood donations in Winnipeg this year in honour of our troops.

During the Second World War, more than 890,000 blood donations were collected from Canadian civilians for use in military hospitals during the last year of the war. The generous response from civilians was, in fact, how Canada’s voluntary blood donor system was born.
