VANCOUVER – Five members of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers were named to the 2011 CFLPA all-star team, the player’s association announced Thursday.

Defensive backs Jovon Johnson and Jonathan Hefney, along with defensive tackle Doug Brown, safety Ian Logan, and offensive lineman Brendon LaBatte were all selected.

The honour is believed to be held in high esteem among the players, as the recognition is voted on by their peers.

Players only cast a vote for the players they play against during the season. For example: receivers are voted on by defensive backs and offensive linemen are chosen by the defensive line.

Johnson, Hefney, Logan, and LaBatte were named CFL all-stars earlier this month.

The B.C. Lions, Winnipeg’s opponent in the Grey Cup at BC Place Sunday, led the way with seven players and head coach Wally Buono named to the squad.
