While they go on their five-day NHL all-star break, the Winnipeg Jets have sent two players back to their AHL affiliate team.
Both forwards Patrice Cormier and Aaron Gagnon, who were in the lineup for Tuesday night’s 3-0 loss to the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden, will be in action for the St. John’s IceCaps tonight against the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, just an hour out of New York.
Cormier, 21, has played six games for the Jets this season.
Gagnon, 26, played his first Jets game on Tuesday night.
Both players will be welcome additions to the AHL club on its current road trip. The IceCaps are without three important veteran players — captain Jason Jaffray, who’s away from the team after a death in his family, centre Marco Rosa (concussion) and winger Jason King (upper body).
