Unseasonably warm temperatures will give Winnipeg a head start on its spring cleaning.
City of Winnipeg officials said that warm temperatures will allow crews to start to clean the grime off city streets one month early.
The cleanup started on Sunday night, when crews began sweeping downtown streets.
Tuesday night, the sweeping operation will expand and include all regional streets across the city, bridges and underpasses.
City officials say the preliminary cleanup will take about two weeks to complete.
After that, crews will focus on clearing debris and sand from remaining streets, sidewalks, back lanes, parks and boulevards in mid-April, if weather permits.
Officials said the initial street sweeping will help control dusty conditions.
