Doug Brown joins CJOB’s team for Bomber games

The transition into retirement has led Doug Brown into the broadcast booth.

CJOB 68, the radio partner of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, has announced the former defensive lineman will join their broadcast team for the coming 2012 and 2013 seasons.

Brown will serve as a colour commentator in the booth, replacing Mitch Zalnasky for all Winnipeg home games. The voice of the Bombers, CJOB sports director Bob Irving, remains in his familiar play-by-play role.

“We are thrilled to add Doug Brown to our Winnipeg Blue Bombers broadcast team,” Irving said in a release. “Doug’s insights will add another dimension to our football coverage.”

Zalnasky remains a part of the Bomber broadcast team, the station said, serving as a special analyst on all pre-game and post-game shows.

The game-day radio presence is the latest bullet point in a growing list of media work the Bomber Hall of Famer has added to his resume.

Not only does he continue to serve as a weekly columnist for the Free Press and host his weekly radio show (Doug Brown Spin Zone) on CJOB, Brown is also expected to be involved with TSN’s CFL coverage throughout the season.
