Maybe, just maybe, the citizens of Winnipeg owe Toronto Mayor Rob Ford an apology. According to CBS News, the Manitoba capital is in fact situated in Ontario.
During a trade mission to Chicago earlier this week, Ford inspired a few guffaws for suggesting Winnipeg — not Windsor, Ont. — sits across the river from Detroit. That in turn led Winnipeg Mayor Sam Katz to make a lighthearted offer of geographic advice.
In an ironic turn of events on Saturday, Katz appeared on CBS This Morning above a caption reading “Mayor Sam Katz: Winnipeg, Ontario.”
The mayor, who was in New York City to attend meetings with credit-rating agencies, was supporting Winnipeg Transit driver Kris Doubledee, who jumped off his bus to give his shoes to a barefoot stranger.
Katz is expected back at City Hall on Monday. Ford remains in Ontario.
