It’s often said the Winnipeg Folk Festival brings out the best in people. A woman who lost $1,000 in cash on Saturday would agree.
The musican from the central American country of Belize lost the money and her passport on Saturday at the festival site at Birds Hill Park, which was crammed with more than 10,000 people.
While some people might expect $1,000 in cash would be quickly pocketed by the finder, the folkies have a strong tradition of respecting each other.
The passport and money – every cent of it – was returned to the musician, mainstage host Ismaila Alfa announced to the crowd Saturday night.
