Phil Sheegl no longer is the city’s representative to several organizations, including the body that oversaw the construction of the new football stadium.

A motion from council this morning to remove Sheegl, the former City CAO who was forced to quit last week in advance of a damning report on the fire-paramedic station construction program, from several boards was rendered unnecessary when Mayor Sam Katz said Sheegl had resigned from the organizations.

Sheegl was chair of BBB Stadium Inc, the non-profit group that oversaw the construction of Investors Group Field, and sat on several other bodies — the Bombers’ board, the RBC Convention Centre, the Civic Employees Benefits program, and the Winnipeg Police Pension Board – and remained the city’s representative even he though he quit his post last week.
