Winnipeg’s Janet Harvey has become the fourth of eight teams to qualify for Monday’s playoff round at the $60,000 Manitoba Liquor and Lotteries Womens Curling Classic at Fort Rouge Curling Club.
Harvey advanced with a 7-6 win over Edmonton’s Valerie Sweeting in their B-side qualifying game late Sunday afternoon. Harvey joins Switzerland’s Michelle Jaggi, Russia’s Anna Sidorova and Winnipeg’s Jennifer Jones in the playoffs.
Four final playoff berths will be determined in C-side qualifying games at 7:30 p.m. Sunday evening: Winnipeg’s Jill Thurston will play Sweeting, Regina’s Amber Holland will play Calgary’s Crystal Webster (with Winnipeg’s Cathy Overton-Clapham at third), Switzerland’s Silvana Trinzoni will play Winnipeg’s Chelsea Carey and Winnipeg’s Michelle Montford will play Winnipeg’s Barb Spencer.
