The Winnipeg Jets are worth twice what the Chipman and Thomson families paid for it in 2011.

According to the latest report from Forbes magazine on the value of NHL teams, the Jets are now worth $340 million, up 70 per cent from a year ago.

That’s exactly twice what was paid for the Atlanta Thrashers in May, 2011.

The Jets are the 16th most valuable franchise in the league.

The team’s revenue for the lockout-shortened 2012-13 season was $79 million and it earned operating income of $6.3 million.

The Toronto Maple Leafs are once again the most valuable franchise in the NHL at $1.15 billion.
