The Ottawa Redblacks are set to make a major announcement this morning – the signing of veteran CFL quarterback Henry Burris.

Free Press columnist Gary Lawless tweeted this morning the Winnipeg Blue Bombers were told that Burris has signed with Ottawa.

TSN is also reporting Burris is off the market, meaning the Bombers will have to go in another direction in order to find a starting pivot for the 2014 season.

Burris, 38, spent the past two seasons in Hamilton, throwing for over 10,000 yards. He tossed for almost 5,000 yards in 2013, making 373 completions on 567 attempts.

He’s played for 15 years for such teams as the Ticats, the Calgary Stampeders and the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

The Ottawa club sent out a release early today inviting media to an event at 10 a.m. CST.

“Members of the media are invited to join Marcel Desjardins, general manager and Rick Campbell, head coach of the Ottawa Redblacks of the Canadian Football League for an important announcement,” said the release.
