Louis Riel Day, Feb. 17, is a provincial general holiday.
The Winnipeg Free Press does not publish a print edition on Monday.
Most employees either have the day off with pay or receive holiday pay if they work. Many businesses close for the day.

Out and about
The Winnipeg Art Gallery and Manitoba Museum, which are usually closed on Mondays, are both open 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. for the holiday.
The Assiniboine Park Zoo is open regular hours, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The Forks Market will be open regular hours on Monday: 9:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
As for malls, St. Vital Centre, Polo Park, Kildonan Place and Garden City Shopping Centre are open 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., while Portage Place and Cityplace are closed.
Most Liquor Marts are open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday.
Government services
Louis Riel Day is a provincial holiday, but most federal employees are still required to work. Passport offices are open and mail is collected and delivered as normal.
Most civic and provincial offices are closed on Feb. 17.

Garbage and recycling will be picked up on Monday. The Brady Road landfill is open on Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Monday from 5:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
All Leisure Centres are closed on Monday.
The Pan Am Pool and the Cindy Klassen Recreation Complex are the only civic swimming pools in the city that are open on Monday, with the Pan Am open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and the Cindy Klassen open from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
All libraries are closed on Monday.
The animal services agency is open regular hours Friday to Sunday, but closed on Monday.
The Brookside, St. Vital and Transcona cemeteries are open to visitors from dawn until dusk on Monday, but cemetery offices are closed.
The Winnipeg Parking Authority is closed on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
