Hey there, time traveller!

They are the only Canadian Football League team yet to enjoy a bye week, but Winnipeg Blue Bomber head coach Mike O’Shea doesn’t believe there is a correlation between that and the club’s crowded sick bay.
“No,” said O’Shea Tuesday at his press conference. “We do a pretty good job of keeping them rested.”
Asked if he had any qualms that the Bombers won’t get a breather until after this weekend’s critical game in B.C. against the Lions – Toronto and Hamilton have already had both their byes – O’Shea joked: “I didn’t get any time on the dock, that’s my biggest issue.

“We don’t make the schedule. There’s nothing we can do about it, there’s no reason to worry about it, there’s no reason to bring it to the players’ attention. You just keep chugging along. We’ve got one coming up, right? We’ve got to win a game first before we even move on to that point.”
That said, the Bombers will be without defensive end Jason Vega this Saturday in Vancouver after he tweaked his knee in Sunday’s Banjo Bowl loss to the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Canadian linebacker Mike Cornell also hurt his knee and those two join a walking-wounded list that included 12 players on the one-game injured and three on six-game injured.
O’Shea is hopeful the team will have linebacker/long-snapper Ian Wild back. His status will be better known after practices on Wednesday and Thursday.
“There’s no point in putting Ian Wild in jeopardy,” said O’Shea. “We have too many games left to do that. We don’t want to put him out there too soon and risk him for the rest of the season. If he’s good to go, then we’ll have to look at the roster and see where that all plays out.”
Asked for a read on his team after a day of meetings and after they have dropped four of their last five after a 5-1 start, O’Shea added:
“I don’t think they’re happy. We’ll see how it goes tomorrow, we’ll see how practice goes. I don’t think anybody’s happy. Everybody’s committed to getting better and they’re sticking to the process in terms of moving on and fixing the mistakes today and moving on. That kind of consistency and even-keeled approach would serve us well. I haven’t heard anybody say they’re going to have extra special meetings or anything like that.”
