Hey there, time traveller!

A bomb exploded on Guido Amsel’s ex-wife’s front step less than two years ago, said a former neighbour.
David Kane was up late one night in the third week of November 2013, when a massive explosion shook his house, across the street from the Amsels in a rural residential subdivision in St. Clements. “It rocked my world,” he said.
Kane initially thought a plane had crashed because the homes are on the flight path to Winnipeg’s Richrdson International Airport. When the RCMP bomb squad came later, searching yards in the area for shrapnel, in the rural residential subdivision, he realized it had been a bomb. When he asked Amsel’s ex, Iris, what happened, she pointed to charring on the bricks in front of her house.
Guido Amsel is currently accused of sending letter bombs through the mail — one which exploded and injured a lawyer. On Tuesday morning in court, he was ordered to have no contact with any of the alleged victims in the matter.
His matter has also been remanded to Thursday.
Amsel did not appear in court.
Speaking with the Free Press on Tuesday morning, Kane said that’s not the Guido Amsel he remembers from 10 years ago before the couple split up.
“I’m really shocked. He’s probably the hardest-working individual I’ve ever met in my life,” Kane said.
Amsel ran a auto body shop and “treated customers like kings. They were the most important person… Anyone I knew in the auto body industry had nothing but good to say about him,” Kane said.
He was extremely popular with other neighbours, too, frequently helping people with their cars. “He was a very personable person,” he said.
The blast in 2013 happened about 3 a.m. Kane’s residence is about 500 metres from the Amsels. The RCMP bomb squad arrived later.
Guido Amsel, 49, now faces 11 charges, including two counts of attempted murder. Lawyer Mitousis suffered severe injuries last Friday after opening a package addressed to her inside a River Avenue law office.
Amsel’s ex-wife also had a package addressed to her that police detonated Saturday evening inside a Washington Avenue business. His former lawyer also had a package addressed to her detonated at her former law office on Stradbrook Avenue.
