Bombers receiver Moore says he’s good to go against Stamps

Receiver Nick Moore was a full participant in Wednesday’s practice and he said afterwards he’s good to go Friday when the Bombers (4-8) welcome the defending Grey Cup Champions, the Calgary Stampeders (9-3), to town.

“I’m feeling good, a lot better,” said Moore, who missed last week’s 35-14 loss to Montreal with a nagging leg injury. “Thought I was ready last week but just wasn’t ready last minute and didn’t want to put myself and the team in that situation but I’m ready to go this week.”

Moore said it was tough to watch his team fall to the Alouettes Sunday, especially after a much-needed win over the Saskatchewan Roughriders the week before in the annual Banjo Bowl game, a tilt in which he earned his first 100-yard receiving game this season, hauling in three catches for 103 yards.

“Just disappointing as any other. That’s the thing about a team is building that bond with the guys and not being able to go out there and help them, that hurts,” added Moore.

Julian Feoli-Gudino was absent from practise and has been placed on the six-game injured list. Head coach Mike O’Shea called it an upper-body issue and that the team is waiting to hear the results on how severe it may be.

Ian Wild also had his first practise back with the Blue and Gold Wednesday, a day after the team announced they had signed the import linebacker through 2017. Wild was taking reps at special teams as well as middle linebacker in the second-team defence.

“It felt good,” said Wild, who started all 18 games with the Bombers last season before taking his talents south to the Pittsburgh Steelers, who cut him just before the start of the NFL season.

“I was a little worried about my legs. I mean I’ve been running and stuff but haven’t played in over three weeks but I was fine.”

Wild was wearing jersey No. 96, a number he said he chose because it’s the same one his brother uses, but hopes he can regain his old number 38, which is currently being used by linebacker Carlton Littlejohn.

He may not have to wait long as the Bombers announced after practice that Littlejohn has been released.
