Mr. Hyde returned to the MTS Centre Thursday night.

After two solid road victories, the Winnipeg Jets returned home and reverted to the poor play that has been troubling the team for most of 2016, dropping a 6-2 decision to the Boston Bruins.

The loss drops the Jets’ record to 24-27-3 and leaves them seven points below the wild card playoff line in the NHL’s Western Conference.

The club now heads out on a four-game road trip starting Saturday night in Edmonton. They then travel to Carolina (Tuesday), Tampa Bay (Thursday) and Florida (Saturday).

Bryan Little, with his team-leading 17th of the season, and Nikolaj Ehlers (13th) scored for the Jets.

Patrice Bergeron led the Bruins with his 20th and 21st goals of the year while Brad Marchand (26th), Loui Eriksson (17th), David Pastrnak (6th) and Jimmy Hayes (12th) – into an empty net – had Boston’s other goals.

Connor Hellebuyck gave up three goals on 11 shots in the first period and was replaced by Michael Hutchinson in the Jets’ net to start the middle frame.

The Jets did display some early nastiness as Chris Thorburn, Blake Wheeler and Tyler Myers all won decisions in scraps with their Bruins opponents, but by the third period the team looked lifeless and not too interested in engaging in a late-game push.

At one point midway through the second period, the Jets were out shooting their visitors 30-15. The game ended with the Bruins holding a 39-36 edge.
